💥The Faculty of Early Childhood Education is organizing an important awareness seminar entitled “A One-Way Trip... No to Drugs.”

On Sunday, November 23, 2025, the Faculty of Early Childhood Education at Zagazig University organized an awareness seminar entitled “A One-Way Trip – No to Drugs” as part of the national campaign to combat addiction. The seminar was presented by: 
▪️ Prof. Mohamed Abdel Ghani
Professor of Psychiatry and Addiction Treatment at the Faculty of Medicine, Zagazig University
Treatment Director at the Al-Azima Center for Rehabilitation and Addiction Treatment, Zagazig University 
▪️ Dr. Basant Essam Abdel-Azim
Lecturer in the Department of Psychiatry, Al-Azima Center for Rehabilitation and Addiction Treatment, Zagazig University.
▪️ Mr. Tawfiq Fikri Labib
Clinical Psychologist and Addiction Treatment Specialist

The seminar addressed a number of topics to highlight the dangers of drugs and their impact on young people and society:
1️⃣ Definition of addiction and its effects:
Addiction is a “one-way trip” that begins with curiosity and ends with complete dependence on the drug. A comprehensive explanation of the effects of drugs on the nervous system, behavior, and general health.
2️⃣ Why do some people turn to drugs?
Lack of awareness and misinformation.
Peer pressure.
Escape from psychological stress.
Childhood trauma and lack of family support.
3️⃣ Health risks of drugs:
Serious lung infections.
Heart and liver disease.
Impaired memory and concentration.
Conditions that can lead to death due to the adulterated substances currently in circulation.
4️⃣ Psychological and social harms:

🔹 Key messages from the seminar:

Prevention begins with awareness.

Addiction cannot be treated with willpower alone... it requires specialists.

Drugs destroy entire lives, not just individuals.

At the end of the seminar, questions from students were answered, and commemorative photos were taken with the attendees, including faculty members and students. Good luck to everyone in raising the name of our beloved college.
